Being 17
tells us about the life of a teenager, Sandra Rosaline, who had just turned 17 years old. She lived with her mother. Her parents had divorced when she was sitting in fourth grade. She had a boyfriend who was very attractive and handsome named Rian. Rian was a model who was very obsessed to be a
great actor. Actually, Sandra was not happy if he became a famous person. But, it didn’t stop
him to achieve his desired.
Not only Rian that had a dream, Sandra
also had a dream. Her big dream is to go to Paris. Initially, she just could imagine
her dreams. She always tried to get her dream come true. She followed some course and
tried to get a scholarship. But when the dream was in sight she had to decline that offer. Her mother didn’t allow her to join the student exchange. In addition, Rian didn’t want if she went to France especially with Andre, Sandra’s close
friend.
The conflict increased when Rian became more
distant and always think about his obsession, her father was back and they need
to fix their relationship. And Andre, Sandra’s close friend who had the same
dream to go to Paris,
started to show his feelings on Sandra. Actually, Andre had loved Sandra since
the first time they met. But, he had to bury his love because Sandra had had a
boyfriend. Over time, the relationship with Andre increasingly felt privileged,
while Rian even more busy and can not often with Sandra. All her problem made
Sandra to think hard to solve it.
Turned out, be 17-years-ol teenager was
not easy. Sandra who originally thought that be 17 years old teenager was
mediocre, began to be overwhelmed by the events that stirred her emotions.
I think there are many interesting events that had passed by Sandra in this novel. Starting from the happiness, sadness, and touching. This book reveals the story of teenage life with Sandra perspective as the main character. This book is very interesting to read by teenagers.
The language used in the book is quite easy to
understand. The story in it presents a strong message and not easily
predictable. However, from the whole story if we read carefully, there are a
lot of messages and valuable lessons from the author that we can get after
reading this book.
